hotel bolzano

The location was good, breakfast was good, and the price wasn't too high. But hot water is essential when you're paying for a hotel room, and we couldn't get a hot shower in the morning. When we raised it with reception, their response made it seem like a long-standing problem they weren't addressing. It sounds as if the hot water runs out when too many people shower in the morning. The hotel also felt old-fashioned, and it was quite noisy at night and in the morning. We weren't looking for the nicest place, but I wouldn't recommend it without hot water.

Breakfast was the standout: lots of variety and good food, which really impressed me. The staff were friendly, and the room was modern, clean, and had a comfortable bed. The location near Milano Centrale was great for the price. The bathroom itself was clean, but it smelled musty, and the shower was disgusting and didn't seem properly cleaned. There may have been mold around the edges, and there was hair on the shower head. We had room 11. I hope they sort it out, because it'd be a shame otherwise. I'd come back if I knew the showers had been replaced or deep cleaned, even just for that breakfast.

The hotel is close to the station, and the check-in guy was helpful and spoke English. Rooms are small but clean. There's a lift, though it's small, and a Penny's supermarket across the street is handy. The area felt a bit suspicious to us, and my wife wouldn't go anywhere alone. Noise is the downside: early deliveries and street cleaning start at the crack of dawn. If possible, book a room away from the front of the building.

The breakfast buffet was superb, with a huge range of fresh and freshly prepared food: cold cuts, cheese, vegetables, fruit, pastries and cakes, plus hot and cold drinks. The hotel is also very quiet in the evening and overnight, though you hear some noise in the morning, which is to be expected in busy Milan. It's a good place to stay if you're travelling by train, as Milan's Central Station is under a 10-minute walk away. Staff were polite and professional. The hotel has been renovated, though my room still showed some wear. It was nevertheless nice and clean, with a very comfortable bed, a minibar fridge stocked with mineral water, and a decent-size bathroom with large, clean towels. There was also a mini-safe, though it wasn't fixed to the wall.
