Hotel Manin

I met Mr. Mario in the lobby. The place was clean, quiet, and bright, and the staff made me feel welcome. Its location is unusual and the neighborhood is very clean, with good public transport access. There are lots of green spaces in front of the Hotel, including the historic Porta Venezia park, and historical landmarks and Buenos Aires street for shopping are nearby. It was also easy to access for disabled people.

I liked the central location, close enough to walk to restaurants, the city center, shops, and the metro. The rooms were clean and cleaned daily, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Still, two incidents brought this down to three stars. One day I woke to water dripping and running through a duct in the wall. Reception sent maintenance right away and they stopped the leak, but water remained on the floor. I asked for it to be cleaned. They said they'd do it after I left the room, which wasn't for another three hours. I spent that time dealing with different staff, but nothing was done. I also left some change on the counter and it was gone when I returned. The front desk said they'd check. At checkout the next day, they told me all the crew were 100% sure they hadn't taken anything, said I could call the police if I wanted, and that I should have put the money in the safe. I didn't like either the response or their general attitude about it.

I expected much better for the price and reputation of this hotel. Plumbing problems kept happening and weren't resolved. The shower and sink water turned brown, so we couldn't shower or even brush our teeth in our room. At first, we were allowed to use another room to shower. Meanwhile, our toilet kept flushing nonstop and made it very hard to sleep. Later the same problems continued, but we weren't given another room, though I understand other guests were accommodated. By the end of our stay, the shower had finally been fixed, but the toilet was completely broken and unusable.

The breakfast buffet was delicious, with lots of choices, and each morning got the stay off to a good start. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and nicely decorated, comfortable and stylish. The staff were so friendly and ready to help with a smile, and the service and attention to detail went beyond what I expected. A delightful, memorable stay. I'd happily recommend this gem.
