The bathroom window was old, rusty, and hard to open because it was so high up. When we tried to shut it, it broke, even though we handled it normally and didn’t force or smash it. They charged us 540 euros for the damage. This was the worst Airbnb experience I’ve had. There’s a lot of old furniture that seems broken already or could break easily, and you may end up being charged hundreds of euros. I’d avoid the place.

We left for a hotel the next day. The apartment was expensive and rather depressing, even though it’s in a very nice building. It seemed like a larger original unit had been split into two or three short-stay flats. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, but the bathroom was long and narrow, with no ceramic tiles, no extractor fan, and a high window that was difficult to open. The bathtub was old, and there was no shower. The large modern TV was mounted on the wall but had no sound. I tried several ways to get it working. I wondered if the sound had been disabled on purpose to avoid bothering other residents. That feeling that short-term guests weren’t welcome came through right away: an extremely unpleasant doorman came out of the guardhouse and told us to use the stairs, not the elevator, because the old wooden doors might get left open.

The location is decent, but the apartment is old and the building feels strange and unwelcoming. The service was overly strict and unpleasant.
