Residenza Porta Volta

The apartment had everything we needed, and the staff were fabulous and really helpful. Check-in was easy for our three-night stay. We used the downstairs wellness centre and pool every day, and had it to ourselves. A taxi from the train station cost €10. There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, plus a coffee shop next door and a good wine bar across the street. I was told places close on weekends because it's near the financial district. It's also well placed for getting around. We took the tram from the street to the Cathedral.

Our reservation was fully paid, and we were already on the way to Milan when the residence cancelled it just a few hours before check-in, saying they'd overbooked. Surely they knew about that a week earlier, rather than waiting until the day we were arriving. It was really unprofessional and stressful, wondering whether we'd have somewhere to sleep that night. I wouldn't recommend this residence. Look for somewhere you can trust to honor your booking.

There's a gym and wellness area with a jacuzzi, and quite a few good restaurants close by. The apartment was clean and fully furnished, with all the equipment working well. It also had a washing machine, dishwasher and kitchen gear for cooking.

The two-bedroom apartment was roomy enough for a family with a child, and the fitness centre with a pool is in the basement. It felt secure and came with a washing machine, oven and fridge. New, clean and affordable. Très bien.
