The Rabbit Hole

The Alice in Wonderland decor is unusual and makes a nice break from the city. It's one of my favorite places in Milan, and I highly recommend it for the food and drinks. It gets packed, especially at weekends, though. If a group of friends all want the same tea, order one to share. I paid about €5-6, and it comes in a one-liter pot that makes roughly 3-4 cups. I'd skip the Brucalifo, the “colored” herbal tea, unless you're after a scene or Instagram stories. Even the waitresses warn about its taste.

The colorful place is cute, but the staff felt unprofessional and unhelpful. While we were waiting, a waitress even took the sugar packets from our table and put them on the next one. We waited a while to get in, though not as long as we'd waited just to make a reservation. It took about 40 minutes for our order to arrive, and then the drinks came in stages. The iced tea and cappuccino arrived first, followed about half an hour later. There was a mix-up with the hot tea, and one cake came before the other two, which took even longer. We wouldn't repeat the experience. The staff could use proper training and a more professional approach.

The lower level has the restroom and a second room, but you need to go down stairs to reach them. There's no stairlift, wheelchair ramp, or elevator, so that floor isn't accessible to disabled visitors. The bathroom could also use a clean. Still, I liked the place and its menu. It's right in central Milan, only steps from the Duomo, and crossing the scenic entrance feels like stepping into Wonderland. The staff are friendly and helpful, with cute, cheerful uniforms. I was hoping to spot some cosplayers. They serve tall cream cakes, colorful American-style frosting, teas, bright drinks, and cookies. Prices seemed fair, and the interactive-only menu is a shame since a paper copy would be handy. There’s a counter where you can buy sweets and other things to take home. The little colorful hourglasses for timing your tea are cute. Worth a try, especially for a birthday or another occasion.

Alice in Wonderland is the theme, but the bar itself is cramped, with a narrow ground floor and basement and tables packed close together. There was a queue to get in, then we waited 25 minutes for two cappuccinos at €3 each. The photos already posted are enough.
