The Unique Hotel

The rooms are lovely, and the staff were friendly, professional and incredibly helpful. The hotel is also central, just minutes from the Duomo and the Galleria, so I'd recommend it despite one annoyance. It's on a busy street, and our room got quite warm. The AC was disabled, so we had to keep the windows open and could hear street noise for much of the night. The hotel provides earplugs and eye shades.

We liked our Platinum suite a lot. It was roomy, comfortable and well equipped, and the rooms are generous compared with what we understand is common in Milan. The staff were helpful when they could be, but the setup makes it hard to get support. The rooms are in a different building from the dining and reception area, a short walk away, so this doesn't really feel like a serviced hotel. There is no staff where the rooms are. Calling on WhatsApp got no answer, and texts usually took 5-7 minutes or sometimes longer to get a reply. Getting into the building takes a code at the main entrance, another swipe for the room section, and then your own door. That felt like a lot, and it became a real problem when the main door lock failed during our stay and left us outside. We had to message them and wait for someone to bring a key. In everyday life that would be a hassle, and while traveling it was worse. We stayed three nights and asked for a table fan, but they couldn't get one. It rained, and even getting umbrellas became a whole story. The rooms are great, but the facilities and planning let the management down.

The hotel made my long trip easier with clean, comfortable rooms and a delicious breakfast in the lower-level restaurant. It includes continental choices as well as hot items from a menu. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the location is excellent, with attractions, restaurants and shops nearby. I only missed having a self-service laundry on-site or close by so I could wash clothes at the end of my journey. I was very pleased with my stay.

We canceled the next two nights later this week because it was an easy decision. The lobby also had a terrible smell from cheap perfume sprayed throughout the entrance. The manager, Alessandra, was hidden away for the whole trip, with staff who seemed unaware repeatedly saying she wasn't available. There was no management on-site for more than 48 hours. The bathtub jacuzzi was broken, but staff said, “bathtubs banned due to municipal laws.” I called out the receptionist for lying to tourists. This felt falsely advertised, and I expect honesty, not lies.
