Velvet Grey Boutique Hotel

The location and the front desk staff were the only real positives. The ladies there were pleasant and helpful, and the hotel sits on a convenient, very upscale boutique shopping street. The room was quiet thanks to a French door window opening onto a courtyard. That aside, I wouldn't call this a four-star hotel. There are no services or restaurant, and I think two stars would be more accurate. The room was tiny and run-down, with an old, uncomfortable bed and terrible pillows. The bathroom was cramped, with paint cracking and peeling. I chose it for the reasonable price and neighborhood, but what I paid felt quite high. I wouldn't stay here again.

The central location was handy, and the reception staff were kind throughout my business stay. If I'm back in Milan for work, I'd consider staying here again. It's a simple place, but the service was great. Getting to the hotel was confusing at first because there's no clear sign outside. Inside, the reception is small but cozy. Road closures made my trip to the airport stressful, but receptionist Nicol helped me work out another route, and I got there on time.

The price seemed a little steep for the service, though the room itself was decent. I had a nice view of Montenapoleone and appreciated having a coffee machine. Thanks to all the kind receptionists, especially Nicolle, who suggested I contact her directly about discounts on future stays.

We booked a Quadruple Room with a terrace, with one queen bed and twin beds, but my daughter was given an air mattress instead of a proper bed. It was extremely uncomfortable, and her four-night stay was miserable, nearly ruining the holiday. The location was the only good part. The room felt very old and badly in need of renovation, with no bottled water or tissues and a generally run-down appearance. There was often a bad smell near the ground-floor lift lobby, and on some nights it reached the rooms too. For the price, this stay didn't meet even basic expectations, and I wouldn't recommend the property.
