B&B Porta della Terra

The locals were so warm and friendly, and the town's carnival happening that evening made the visit especially memorable. It was full of life and would be a great time to plan a visit. The B&B itself is excellent, with an elegant, minimalist look and a very welcoming owner. A wonderful viewpoint gives you a view of both the town and the volcano, about a 15-minute walk away or five minutes by car. We also found the B&B excellent. The decor is elegant and minimalist, and the host made us feel welcome. You can reach a stunning viewpoint over the town and volcano in about five minutes by car, or on foot in 15. The carnival was lively when we happened to be there, and the friendly locals made the whole experience stand out.

We only had two days, which felt far too short. We'll come back in October for the two-week prickly pear mustard festival in Militello. We also heard that Militello Val di Catania was voted Italy's most beautiful village this year. We stayed in the largest room with our two dogs. It was spotless when we arrived, with comfortable mattresses and lovely-smelling towels. Mr. Antonio welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home, while Mrs. Giusy, his indispensable right-hand person, left two bottles of water in the mini-fridge and brought two more the following day. Breakfast was varied and included excellent croissants from a local bakery, seasonal fruit, and more. It was served in a beautiful room with a vaulted ceiling, a century-old oven, and a kitchen. An excellent B&B in every way.

We've come back five times now, and it feels like home because we enjoy being here so much. Mr. Antonio is warm, affable, and a wonderful person. He and Mrs. Giusy always greet us with real affection. I'd recommend a stay to anyone, it's sure to be a lovely experience.
