The setting has a lot going for it, with generous grounds and a lovely spot to spend time by the pool. It feels peaceful and relaxing. The rooms, though, need an update, especially the sheets and curtains. A refresh of the décor and linens could help the place live up to its potential.

We had a really enjoyable stay, and the staff were warm and spoke English fluently. They moved us to another room after we found bugs from the olive trees and ants, and we had no more trouble after that. Breakfast included the usual cornetto and good fresh coffee, plus eggs, ham, cheese, and yogurt. There’s a spa downstairs for an extra charge. The outdoor pool has a bar and umbrellas, but it’s only open in the summer, around the beginning of June onward.

We all enjoyed breakfast, and the restaurant served good food with good service. The receptionist was very helpful, and the rooms were nice. Thank you, Miss Francesca. One odd thing: a group of 16 German people took extra items from the breakfast display before leaving. Is that typical of German people? What a raid.

The location is unusual and special, and the service is friendly. The food is okay, though the price felt a little high.

The hotel felt almost deserted, and it’s a long way from anywhere. We had to drive an hour and a half from the airport in the dark to get there. Still, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, our room was spotless and roomy, and the food was very good with excellent coffee. We arrived at 10:30 pm and asked about dinner; the chef stayed on to cook for the two of us. Breakfast came with plastic knives and forks and coffee in paper cups. It was a good stay overall, but the location is too remote.
