Hotel Villa Rita

The staff were rude, and I often went hungry and thirsty because the food was either unappealing or unavailable. This was a bad experience, and I definitely won't stay at this hotel again.

The food was a highlight, with plenty to choose from at both breakfast and dinner. Our room was clean, though the walls are thin and the noise bothered us one night. We’d read the bad reviews beforehand, but they didn’t match what we experienced. The staff were warm, especially in the restaurant. When our train was cancelled and we missed dinner, we called and they brought a meal up to our room. It’s a three-star place, so don’t expect the Hilton, but we felt we got good value and would recommend it. Grazie mile!

The room was uncomfortable in several ways: it was dark, the air conditioning seemed to run without really cooling it, and the bed felt old and awful. The minibar turned out to be a fridge that barely worked, and the flatscreen was very outdated. We were promised a balcony, but there wasn’t one. The bathroom was only partly clean, with old towels full of holes and a heavily calcified shower that didn’t close properly and barely let water through. We could hear everything through the walls, despite the listing calling the rooms soundproof. Check-in was in an unpleasant room, and we were greeted by someone in sweatpants and a baggy T-shirt, which didn’t feel welcoming. Breakfast was the same every day and not tasty. Staff were unfriendly, and their English was poor or nonexistent, despite the hotel being advertised as international-friendly. I wouldn’t recommend it; for the price, I think you can find somewhere better, with friendlier people.

Hotel Villa Rita is handy for exploring the region by train, since it’s close to the station. Breakfast was very good and had lots of variety, including sweets and healthier choices, and the pool area was nice. The room was simple and a little dated, but for the price it’s excellent value.
