The rose garden and pool were a real treat. I loved wandering among the roses, then unwinding by the pool with a glass of wine. Breakfast was just as lovely, with pastries, fruit, eggs, cheeses, meats and more, served in a peaceful spot with beautiful views. Villa Santa Barbara in Montefalco is a stunning place, mixing classic Italian style with modern comforts. My room was spacious, beautifully furnished and spotless, with thoughtful touches in everything from the linens to the lighting. The staff were warm and attentive, and made me feel at home throughout my stay. I also really enjoyed the restaurant. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, made with fresh local ingredients, and the wine list featured some excellent regional bottles, including Montefalco’s famous Sagrantino. Though the property is officially rated four stars, it felt worthy of five. It’s a lovely place to explore Umbria or simply relax, and I’d be happy to return.

The half-board meals were excellent in both taste and quality. We stayed as part of a walking tour, and found the room spacious and comfortable. Everyone was welcoming and the service was great. Keep an eye out for the elephant!

A peaceful, understated villa in the Umbrian countryside. The staff are attentive and always happy to help. Breakfast is simple, with local products and delicious homemade cakes. It’s a good base between Montefalco, assisi, spello and st, and only about a 40-minute drive from Perugia.
