Really lovely hosts, and the metro is nearby. There are also a couple of funicular lines close to the place.

We paid €90 for a double room after booking by phone, and got a payment link along with an access video and instructions. The room was clean, but small and not well maintained. The coffee maker was great; the snack basket was pretty meager. The B&B is in a damp Scandinavian-style basement, with air fresheners apparently there to cover an unpleasant smell. There was no staff when we arrived. Nobody answered the intercom, so a woman from the building let us in while I tried to reach the owner. They didn't ask her for any registration documents. The call cut off for reasons I don't know, and the owner forgot to call back. This morning they texted us to leave by 10:30 AM and said there was another €9 tourist tax. I asked for the receipt, which still hadn't arrived, and then they asked for my ID before I left the room. We often travel to Naples, and for under €100 we've found above-average places with much better service and staff. I really can't recommend this one.

Piazza San Martino is just a few meters away, with a panoramic view of Naples and an easy starting point for Castel Sant'Elmo and Certosa. Ad Astra is also well placed for the metro and funiculars, while being quiet and away from city traffic. Mrs. Paola welcomed me warmly, and I felt at home right away. Her son, Diario, was courteous and very helpful too. My room was clean and comfortable, especially the bed. There’s a little lounge with a TV, a coffee and herbal tea corner, and tables for snacks. I recommend Ad Astra for a visit or a business trip, and I’ll definitely come back.

The apartment is in a basement, so my cell phone didn't work. There are three flights of stairs and no elevator, and the window faces the street, which meant climbing onto the bed to open it. The street is currently blocked by long-term construction. It would've been helpful to know before arriving with our bags. There were some basic upkeep and cleanliness issues: the bathroom trash can was broken, the outlet to the left of the bed didn't work, and the radiator had wall paint on it that got on anything placed there. There were dirty cups in the common room, and no receipt was issued for the tourist tax. The owner sends a video message explaining how to get in and asks you to let them know when you arrive. They don't give check-out instructions unless you ask.
