Neapolitan Breakfast

The room felt damp and dark, and it really needs renovating. There was a moldy smell in the bathroom and the drains were blocked. You don’t hear the street, but noise from neighboring rooms carries badly. When someone used a hair dryer, the walls seemed to shake. Don’t count on breakfast being served on time, or even being available. I can’t see why this place has more than one star.

Once we finally got settled, things were fine: the room was clean and tidy, the shower and toilet were spotless, and the service was good. Getting there was another matter. We couldn’t work out where the entrance was in the dark until a local municipal employee stayed with us and helped us get inside. Communication before arrival was poor, too. I emailed the management three days ahead, but only got a reply while we were already flying from Israel to Rome. After landing, our calls went unanswered until we contacted the booking site’s customer service, and then the property got in touch. It would also have helped to have the Wi-Fi password available in the room, even though we arrived late.

The staff were amazing and so helpful, and I’d definitely stay again. It’s right in the city center, so you can walk to everywhere in about 10 minutes. Gino sorbilllo is very close by, too.

The accommodation itself was generally good, and I have no complaints about that. I was careless and left some of my belongings behind, so I contacted Matthia and politely asked him to send them to me. I offered to cover the full shipping cost and was happy to wait, with no need for express delivery. At first he agreed, sent me a photo of my things, and asked how much shipping would cost. Months passed. He replied a few more times, but never sent them, and eventually stopped responding altogether. It has now been three months. I understand he may be busy running the B&B, but I don’t know why he said he’d do it and then didn’t. If you tell a customer you’ll do something, you should keep your word. That’s why I’m giving three stars.
