Villa Elisio Hotel & Spa

The receptionist was the highlight for me. She was so pleasant, explained things clearly, arranged a cab when I asked, and even helped with a personal issue after my coat got messed up. The service person at breakfast was nice too, but the breakfast itself was poor and disorganized. The bathroom amenities were thoughtful, including the hygiene wash, which I haven’t come across at another hotel. Still, there was some mould, so the bathrooms could use a fresh coat of paint. A grab bar in the bathtub would also help prevent accidents. The beds were okay, though the mattresses were a bit soft, and the rooms looked out over residential areas. The hotel calls it a spa, but the steam room and sauna cost extra. The streets outside were crowded, chaotic, and a little run-down, although the city center was only a quick 15-minute walk and there were decent amenities nearby. The room was fine for a stopover, but I’m not sure I’d choose it for a longer stay. I was uncomfortable leaving the windows or shades open because the neighbors were so visible, and being a bit claustrophobic, that didn’t help.

The chalet made the stay difficult. Its bed was too small for two people, and definitely unsuitable for anyone over 170 cm. There was nowhere proper to put clothes, and the walls let through so much noise that we could hear the housekeepers in the next cabin as if they were in ours. We barely slept over our two nights. When I raised it, I was told the hotel was full and had no other rooms. The staff were welcoming and helpful, spoke good English, and the hotel was clean and well-kept. Breakfast had a good selection and was organized well. We also enjoyed the jacuzzi and the sauna we tried once, and the toiletries were good quality. The location near the bus station was convenient. The spa and staff were pleasant, but the lack of comfort in the room had a big effect on our stay.

The staff were fantastic and made our first trip to Italy one I’d love to repeat. Our room was great, the mattress was so comfortable, and after each day out it was perfectly clean, with the bed made and fresh towels. The aircon was excellent after hot days exploring. We really enjoyed breakfast, especially the outstanding coffee and pastries. There was loads of choice, and everything was fresh. Villa Elisio is a 10-15 minute walk from the busy part of town, with taxis, buses, and the metro available if you’d rather not walk. Taverna Luciana is just down the street for tasty, inexpensive food, either to eat in or have delivered to your room. I loved Villa Elisio and can’t recommend it highly enough.

Breakfast was always amazing, and they even had baristas on site. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our room stayed in pristine condition with all the amenities we needed. It’s an authentic Italian hotel with plenty of style and character. We’d definitely stay again!
