Chiaia 205 is right in the heart of the Chiaia quarter, and I had a good stay. The room and service were good, though there was some neighborhood noise from the close, adjacent buildings. The building is old, like the others around it. One thing to know: taxis can’t reach the street during the day, only early morning before 8 am or late evening after 9 or 10 pm.

The room had a roomy bathroom with both a shower and jacuzzi. It was comfortable and clean, and having AC made a big difference in the heat, especially at night. The bed and breakfast is centrally located.

The staff were so kind and really tried to make things work for us. It felt personal and homey, not like we were just clients being processed or dealing with people putting on a fake smile. I had a really nice experience there.

I left feeling completely ripped off, and I’d never recommend this place. Things didn’t seem to be run as they should be, and I couldn’t rely on anyone or anything. The room itself was small but clean, but the problems made the stay miserable. The main door was glass, and the curtain was my only privacy from the light in the building’s center. It didn’t even cover the whole door. There was also a gap around the window or door where air came through, and a piece of plastic or something tapped all night, like someone knocking. I’m sure I’m not the first to complain, and it kept me up most of the night. The shower was junk and leaked, so not enough water came out where it should. There was no bathroom counter for toiletries, which might not have bothered me on its own. The key situation was frustrating too. I wish the man who gave me the keys had shown me how to use the main key for my room. When I returned and couldn’t get it to work, I panicked and spent 10 minutes trying it, with no one at the front desk. Getting there was already a mess. I arrived at 5:45 pm after spending over 10 minutes wandering up and down the street looking for the address. I hadn’t been given tips when booking, the street numbers were confusing, and none of the local shopkeepers knew where it was. When I finally found the office, a sign said “CLOSED.” One email said I should check in by 8 pm, but a more recent one said 6 pm. I was still there before that deadline, but changing it last minute wasn’t cool. Expedia said 7:30. I called the correct number on What's App about five times, then gave up when nobody answered. Around 6 pm a man came out of the elevator and looked confused. I asked if he worked at Chiaia 205. He said yes, then asked why I hadn’t called. He wasn’t where he should have been, but blamed me for not calling. The next morning I told Pasquale about the problems. He said nobody had complained before and seemed nice enough. He said no one else was checking in, so I could use the room as long as I needed that day. I told him I’d leave around 4 pm, and he said that was fine. I was glad I could use the bathroom and freshen up before my train because it was SO hot and humid. I left my luggage and went sightseeing, then came back before lunch to use the bathroom and put some pastries in the room. My luggage was gone and a lady was cleaning. She said she’d been told to move my bags to the office, clean the room, and put them back. That wasn’t what Pasquale had offered, and because the bathroom had been cleaned, I couldn’t use it anymore. I was even more upset. The check-in messages were confusing, too. I’d been told to arrive by 8 pm, then got a newer email saying 6 pm. Expedia’s reservation info said 7:30, and I was there before the 6 pm deadline. None of this was cool to change at the last minute. I also had to call about five times on What's App before I gave up with no answer. I ended up standing there dumfounded, not knowing what to do, until a man came out of the elevator around 6 pm. He confirmed he worked at Chiaia 205, then asked why I hadn’t called.

Our room was gorgeous and spacious, with a bath, and the mattresses were comfortable. The thoughtful design made it feel like home. The location couldn’t be better.
