The suite on the second floor gave us plenty of space. I slept well every night, and the room was quiet, with thick windows that muffled the outside noise. The beds were very comfortable, and the sheets and towels were clean and made up whenever we came back from exploring. We also had shampoo, shower gel, a hair dryer, tissues, soap and even slippers. The shower had strong pressure and there was always hot water. Breakfast ran from 7-10am and there was plenty to choose from: fruit, cheese, toast, bread, meats, pastries, cereal, coffee, eggs and cakes. Everything tasted good, and they kept enough of it available. The staff were friendly and helpful. You had to leave your room key at the desk whenever you went out and ask for it when you returned. I didn't mind, since it was one less thing to keep track of during the day. The elevator was broken for a few days, but we took the stairs anyway. The streets outside felt a little sketchy. Keep an eye on your belongings and you'll be fine. Don't let the bad reviews put you off. This was one of the best hotels I've stayed in, and it was amazing.

The tasty croissants and easy access to the central station were the only things I liked. They don't make up for how bad the stay was, and I'd strongly advise people to avoid this hotel. Our bathroom flooded overnight on the first night, so we had to change rooms. At first, we were told to wait for a plumber, with very little concern shown. They only gave us another room later, and it was hardly better. The duvet had visible stains, the shower door was loose and looked ready to fall, and basic maintenance had been neglected. The lift was almost always out of order and seemed to work only once a day. Housekeeping was poor too. We got tissues once and they were never replaced, and no bottled water was provided. The neighborhood was dirty, noisy and uncomfortable, especially at night. Breakfast was another letdown. The food looked like it might have been sitting out for days, and didn't seem fresh or suitable for a hotel breakfast.

The standout here is the staff. Everyone was lovely and happy to help with directions or recommendations, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. Francesco was especially wonderful, I could happily have adopted him! We spent three nights here in mid-August. The room was a good size, spotless and had efficient air conditioning, which was essential in the sweltering heat. The bed was very big and comfortable. Breakfast is served in the rooftop cafe bar. The selection isn't extensive, but it was enough. The reception is nicely furnished, though the lift may make you nervous. The hotel is tucked up a grotty back street, but we realized much of Naples is like that. It's handy for the station and tour connections. For the Metro, the slightly longer walk to Duomo is worthwhile. It's exceptionally modern and nowhere near as crowded as Termini. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

My 60-year-old college roommate and I stayed one night at Hotel San Pietro in Naples before an early flight from the airport. Our travel agent had booked the room. The hotel is conveniently close to the airport, but we didn't feel the area was safe. At about 6 pm we asked the front desk where we could get a quick bite, then walked out. Just after 7 pm, I was mugged about 20 feet from the hotel entrance. I was wearing costume jewelry except for a small gold chain I hadn't thought anyone would want. I was wrong. I'm grateful the mugger didn't take my phone or purse. After I got inside, a worker brought me ice for my injury and told me that the day before, a guest had been wheeling two suitcases and a pickpocket stole a phone from his pocket. If staff knew about these incidents, why didn't they suggest ordering food or taking a taxi instead of walking? The room safe is very small and lightweight, so I wouldn't trust it with valuables anyway. I'd avoid the area altogether in future.

The fifth floor isn't a good choice if you want peace. Guests gather there to relax, drink and have breakfast, and they chat outside the rooms late at night by the bar or early in the morning while waiting for the lift or sitting on the sofa. You can hear everything from the breakfast area too. The internet kept dropping, and I often had to ask staff to restart the router on my floor. Eventually I bought more data because I needed a reliable connection for work. The neighborhood looks trashy, but it didn't affect our stay and we never felt unsafe inside or outside. It does the job if you can get a good price.
