La Ciliegina Lifestyle Hotel

I liked the clean hotel, accommodating staff, nice breakfast each morning, lovely rooftop patio, and especially the remote-controlled sunroof windows. The bathroom was amazing too. The elevator up to reception on the third floor was my main concern: it’s cramped, small, poorly ventilated and, to me, very rickety. Once you get out, there’s a walkway about two feet wide overlooking a three-storey drop, with a thin railing. I found that pretty intimidating. Apart from that, it’s a decent little hotel.

Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was the highlight, and the breakfast itself was excellent. The rooms are lovely and all on the third floor. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful without getting in your way. You really can’t stay more centrally in Naples.

I felt safe travelling solo here, which mattered a lot after researching hotels in Naples. The hotel is right on Piazza Municipio square, central and convenient, with a well-lit setting surrounded by restaurants and cafes that isn’t too crowded. Municipio Metro is only a two-minute walk away. Everything I needed was in the room: a comfortable Hastens bed/mattress, working air conditioning, hair dryer, toiletries, tea and coffee maker with cups and spoons, and other amenities. The room was lovely, well appointed and clean. Breakfast was an excellent buffet with wholesome hot and cold options, served on the rooftop, with great views of Mount Vesuvius, the port and Certosa di San Martibo on Vomero Hill. Alsedea and Salvadore served breakfast and coffee with a smile, and even remembered details. There’s also a rooftop jacuzzi, a nice treat after a full day of sightseeing. The staff really made the stay better. Isra, Francesco, and Andrea were always ready to help, suggest things and look after guests. They even arranged a packed breakfast for my early morning. This unique, luxurious boutique hotel ticked all the boxes for me. I genuinely couldn’t fault it.

For a 4stars hotel, I was disappointed there were no black out curtains. The bedsheets and bathrobe had a funny smell too. Breakfast wasn’t great, the service felt tired, and overall it didn’t seem like good value for money.
