I stayed here for a short time and left two days early because I was worried the owner might accuse me of something else. I am pursuing legal action against the property. This experience ruined my trip. I have stayed in 58 countries and countless accommodations, and this was by far the worst. I thought a 7.7 on Booking.com would be good enough. I was wrong. When I arrived, the apartment and building already seemed to be falling apart, and the toilet seat was broken. There are four flights of crumbling stairs, and the check-in instructions were confusing and out of date. The walk is through dark, unlit lanes that felt full of shady characters at night. You have to buzz random people to get into the building. Two minutes after entering, I turned on the bathroom lights and found the shower door shattered, with glass on the floor. I alerted the owner right away and explained that I hadn't broken it. The chat history showed I had only been there two minutes, not even enough time to take my clothes off. The cleaners tidied up, and the woman cleaning clearly understood it had been like that when I arrived. There have been numerous earthquakes in the region, and I even suggested one might have weakened the door. I was kind about it and said all I needed was a shower curtain. Two days after check-in, someone finally came to look at the damage and took the toilet seat. A day later, neither the shower door nor the toilet seat had been fixed. I felt bad about contacting Booking.com over the missing seat, but when I called, I learned the owner had already accused me of breaking the shower door. Booking.com advised me to file a police report, so I went to the police. The owner is trying to charge me 300 euro for a door that was broken before I arrived. He told Booking.com it would cost 200, but asked me for the maximum 300 he could try to get from me. Classy. Booking.com did little to help beyond advising me to block my card and report him for attempted fraud. Because the booking was non-refundable a few days before check-in, they needed his permission for a refund. Now he won't respond to me or Booking.com. I had to call the police in Naples and file a report at a station, then pay out of pocket for another hotel. Do you want to stay somewhere where things are broken or close to breaking, and the owner neither fixes them nor charges you fairly when something goes wrong? I was afraid he would make more accusations. I used to be a loyal Booking.com customer, but this experience changed that.
