Les Chic Napoli

I had a terrible experience and feel that I was scammed by the hostel and its owner. Booking was unable to get my money back, and I ended up having to find somewhere else to stay at the last minute after being made to leave. The trouble started when I messaged to report that there was no hot water and asked what I would be refunded if I left after one night of a four-night booking. When the owner arrived, he responded disrespectfully and told us we had ten minutes to pack. He said he had already rented our room to someone else for a higher price. We spent about an hour trying to explain that we weren't looking for trouble and hadn't asked him to cancel, but he still insisted we leave. He promised to refund the full amount within a week. I asked him to put that promise in the Booking chat as proof. A week passed, no refund came, and Booking didn't help when I contacted them. We were put out, lost the money, and had to search for another place on short notice. I wish I could give this hotel less than zero.

We'd arranged our Italy trip two months ahead, with Napoli as the last stop. The plan was to walk around the city, stay one night, then fly home the next morning. But a couple of hours before we were due to reach Napoli, late at night, they told us there was a problem with our room and we couldn't come. They did nothing to help us find another hotel. With so little notice, the options we found were either too expensive or hard to reach. There were three of us, all girls, and they left us in a really difficult position. I can't believe people like this are running a hotel.

Our room was filthy: it hadn't been vacuumed, there was mold in the shower, the toilet was dirty, and even the bed sheets had blood stains. After we raised these issues, the owner moved us promptly to a nearby place with a higher standard.

We planned to stay four nights, but left after one because this place was ruining our vacation. We were still charged for two nights, and the owner said everything was fine. I've traveled for 23 years and never posted before. They squeezed four people into a room meant for two. The extra bed blocked the fridge, there wasn't space for even a small table, yet breakfast had to be eaten in the room. There was no hot water, closet, or safe. Don't stay here unless you want the stress.
