The area is full of things to see and has a lively, authentic feel, though it can be noisy and hectic. There are vendors selling all kinds of things, and the Napolitains seem to have an instinctive grasp of the road rules, even with the honking, no signals, and some kids riding without helmets. I strongly recommend both the neighbourhood and this b and b if you want somewhere fun and bustling. We were on the street side, so I took off a star for the nighttime noise, but shutting the wooden shutters firmly meant I slept like a baby. Our room was spacious, clean, and modern, with tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast was ordered online if you were entitled to it, then brought right to the door on time by a pleasant young man. You also get to choose when housekeeping comes.

Claudio and Luigi were so helpful and kind, and we fell in love with Napoli. If we return, we'd book here again without hesitation. The b&b is within walking distance of the historical center, in a location that felt very safe. Our room was beautifully decorated and extremely clean.

The neighbourhood has plenty to explore, from local shops and a busy market selling clothes, shoes, produce, fish and meat to cafes and restaurants, including lots of takeaway pizza spots. We also found Poppella, a beautifully presented dessert shop that made me think of Fortnum and Mason. We took tiramisu and other treats back to the room, and there's an ice cream shop a few doors away. We loved room 43, a stylish, beautifully decorated apartment on the third floor of this building in a bustling, characterful neighbourhood that felt safe. It was a quiet oasis, with two patio doors facing the inner courtyard. The room was spotless and had everything we needed: a kitchen, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle, crockery, cutlery, fridge, hairdryer and towels, plus chilled water on arrival. The air conditioning worked brilliantly and quietly even when it was 35° outside, and the WiFi was great. There's also Apple TV. Access felt secure, with a deadlock on the room, a landing door key and a code for the building entrance at night. As two females, we felt very safe. Claudio, Luigi and Daniella were incredibly kind and helpful. Breakfast is ordered through a digital link by midnight the night before. You can choose a croissant or brioche with coffee or juice, and have it delivered to your room for free or eat it on the first floor. Ours arrived on time each morning, and we ate at our room's dining table. There's no lift, and the 73 steps to the third floor took some getting used to in the heat, so it may not suit everyone. The other rooms are on the first floor. We've stayed in many places like this, and this was one of the best value options. I'd recommend it without hesitation. They speak excellent English.

The one drawback was the noise outside. The older windows let in planes and bikes during the night, though earplugs are provided by the bed. If you're not too sensitive to sound, it should be fine, but otherwise you'll need to use them. The clean, comfortable room is furnished in an IKEA style. There's a fridge, and the TV connects to the internet so you can watch what you like. The staff respond through Booking chat almost immediately, at any time, and are ready to help with requests. It's a great apartment, though it may not have a kitchen.

Napoli's lively, loud neighbourhood is part of its charm, and Centro Storico is an easy walk away. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and on time, and the staff were incredibly helpful. If I return to Napoli, I won't think twice about staying here again.
