Marisa was such a friendly host, and she even let me keep my motorcycle in the garage. It also makes a handy starting point for Lake Como, with Bergamo or Milan easy to add as a side trip.

The room was clean and nicely furnished, and the owner was kind while giving us plenty of privacy. The villa sits in a peaceful spot away from the center and main road, though the train station is only a few minutes away on foot.

Marisa's helpfulness really made the stay comfortable. The rooms were clean and comfortable too, and both breakfast and Wi-Fi were excellent. The house is 4 km from Merate's center, with bars, a post office, and supermarkets about a 3-minute walk away. Seeing is believing.

There's not much to see in the little village, so you'll need a car to get around. The train service is good, though, with FS connections to Lecco and Milan. The two-story villa has its own entrance and a family feel, almost like staying with a reserved aunt. Service was punctual and discreet, never intrusive.
