Garni Mariandl

We’ve stayed here for three years and have already booked for next year. It works really well for families or friends, with a bus that goes straight to the ski lifts. Mrs Mariandl handles questions quickly and efficiently, and even during our stay the apartment was clean and the kitchen rubbish had been cleared. The sheets and towels were clean too. For the Dolomites, the price is especially good, since other places cost more than twice as much.

The view from the room was amazing, and the lady was very kind to us. She even gave us a bottle of wine, which was a sweet gesture. Still, we left with very mixed feelings. Booking took more emails than usual, and cat hair was all over the room, including the bed, pillows and towels. The cat apparently wasn't allowed upstairs, but there was hair near the laundry, and finding it in my food was disgusting. The kitchen had no dish soap, salt or oil, so we bought some ourselves and left it behind when we flew home. After we used a few plates and pans one evening, they were removed the next day, leaving us with hardly any plates. We also kept returning to find the balcony and bathroom doors wide open, although the room hadn't been cleaned and the linen hadn't been changed. Once, the kitchen sponge was on the terrace by the flowers. It felt like someone was trying much too hard to dry things out. The lady was also rude to our neighbours in person and said unkind things about them to us. That left a bad impression.

They cancelled my reservation when I asked a basic question about whether the room had a balcony, and the reply was unbelievably arrogant. The way they treated me felt rude, unprofessional and completely out of line, as if being the only Garni in Ortisei meant they could handle potential guests however they wanted. Avoid this place if transparency, respect and basic hospitality matter to you.

The ski bus stops right outside, and the scenery is dreamlike. I stayed for a week and found the location very good, the host hospitable and everything very clean. We’ll definitely return. It was a great ski holiday!
