55 Aira

We booked Aira55 Hotel in Palermo and left after two nights, losing about 56 € because they refused to refund us. In my view, it should be closed and completely renovated, and calling it a 4-star hotel is an insult to real hotels. Avoid it at all costs. It's a bad joke, with dirt, noise, poor upkeep, false advertising and no refund. The place looked nothing like the online listing. The first photos showed a luxury room, but ours was dirty and neglected. There were stains across the walls and two large water marks on the ceiling and walls. The air conditioner was dusty, its filters looked as though they had never been cleaned, and water dripped from it while it ran. There was old water damage underneath. The windows and doors were old and let in all the sound. It was impossible to sleep. Buses, revving engines and air pressure releases made noise all evening, then street cleaners shouting and constant honking started early in the morning. The shower stall was covered in mold and squeaked loudly during use. Water leaked from several places, leaving the floor completely wet when we opened the bathroom door. The extra blankets were dirty, so we didn't dare use them. We avoided running the AC for heat. Breakfast was terrible: hard, dry croissants, stale, tasteless cakes and awful coffee. The hotel doesn't have its own parking. They direct guests to a nearby garage, Park House, for 25 € a day, but this wasn't clearly disclosed in advance. That felt like a scam right on arrival. We complained in the morning and were offered another room without any trouble. When we went to see it, it turned out to be two connected rooms sharing one bathroom, with water already leaking from the toilet flush when we arrived. We decided to leave anyway. Our health and nerves matter more.
