Bedda Mari Rooms Suite

My husband, our two adult sons, and I stayed at Bedda Mari for three nights in August 2023. The location was perfect, the staff friendly and knowledgeable, the beds comfortable, and the price very reasonable. If we come back to Palermo, we'd definitely stay here again. Thank you for a fabulous stay!

The rooms were cozy and really clean, and we were welcomed so warmly. Breakfast was made to order, so do ask for the cornetti, they were amazing. The place is right in the middle of the night-time activity, which means some noise, but they provide free earplugs and we slept like babies. Lovely spot and well located in Palermo.

The decor is lovely, and the host was incredibly kind and helpful. Just know the street gets very loud. There was no mention of the noise on the booking or at check-in, and the only hint was the earplugs waiting on the bedside tables. If you sleep lightly, be careful.

The central location made it easy to see the city on foot, and Lorenzo welcomed us as arranged. He walked us through everything, which took a while with four different keys, and even biked with us to a parking spot. Still, I can only recommend this B&B to some extent. We had expected more after seeing the high ratings and attractive online photos. Our room was nicely furnished, but very small and dark. The lights barely brightened it, and there wasn't a proper bedside lamp. A little wall spotlight lit the recess but wasn't useful for reading. We'd booked San Franciscu, then the owner switched us at the last minute to U Criaturi as an “upgrade.” We preferred the room we'd booked and should have been asked first. It seemed the change was made because a group of four wanted two rooms next to each other. The breakfast was another letdown. It was served in the apartment's tiny kitchen, which was dark and cold with the air conditioning running. There was no one we could ask to turn it off, and I felt uncomfortable eating in such a cramped room with four strangers. The price was low, €70 per night for two people including breakfast, so perhaps I shouldn't complain about its quality, but a tiny packet of sugary drink isn't what I'd call fruit juice. Noise made it hard to rest. Palermo nightlife was enjoyable, but people kept walking past and shouting, then morning traffic and rattling started as the night crowd died down. The earplugs from the owner didn't help. On our first day the apartment had no electricity from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. We came back at 2 after four hours walking and found the cleaner still working in our room, even though the sign said there'd be no cleaning after noon. We had to wait to shower, and the water was ice cold without electricity. Resting wasn't possible either, with the cleaner talking loudly and making noise until 4. I didn't feel at home at Bedda Mari Rooms, and I won't be coming back.
