Casa Politeama Palermo

The price was reasonable, and the location made it easy to visit central Palermo. Politeama Theatre is just meters away, and there’s unattended parking on the nearby streets. The air conditioning in the rooms was especially welcome in summer, though there was none in the shared areas. Cleanliness needs work. The kitchen, living room, and bathroom could all use more attention. Guests can’t use the kitchen, which is used by the owner, and the refrigerator was nearly inaccessible because her food was stored in it. The bathroom is shared with the owner and guests from another room; only one room has its own bathroom. There’s also a dachshund in the apartment, often in the common areas, so this may not suit anyone who’s afraid of animals. The owner let us check in an hour early and provided coffee in a thermos, or freshly made coffee if we got up early, along with ladyfingers.

We’ll be back for another Sicilian stay, for sure. Palermo was full of lovely places and, above all, lovely people, and we felt right at home getting to know it alongside Donatella and Totó. The house is beautiful and close to everything. Bus 806 stops right outside and takes you to Mondello. Before we knew it, we were in the city center. We’ve just got back to Turin and are already feeling nostalgic. We’d give it a thousand stars if we could. A big hug to Palermo and everyone who welcomed us. Highly recommended! The Alessis were so kind and helpful throughout my stay, and did everything they could to make me comfortable. Their hospitality made me feel at home, and the quality for the price is hard to beat. The location is central, about 100 meters from the airport bus stop, with the main sights all walkable. There’s also a fantastic trattoria nearby where I had excellent, inexpensive Sicilian dishes. My double room was quiet and comfortable, with two closets, though the bed and mattress could be better. The bathroom is large and open, without a door, with two sinks, big mirrors on three sides, and a nearby shower stall with a seat.

A handy place for exploring Palermo and the surrounding area, with unattended parking close by. The shared bathroom is sometimes used by the owners, and the shared spaces need better cleaning, especially the kitchen, which the owners use and don’t make available to guests.
