KMC Suites

The location worked well for exploring Palermo. It's an easy walk to Teatro Massimo and the shops and restaurants around Via Ruggiero Settimo and Via Maqueda. Coop, a good full-service grocery store in Piazzetta Francesco Bagnasco, is five minutes away. Osteria Mercede is also nearby and worth trying, though you'll need a reservation. From Palermo Centrale Railway Station, it's a 1.9 km walk, or you can take the #101 bus along Via Roma and walk a short distance after getting off. I stayed for three days in September at KMC-Red Suites. The one-bedroom apartment was modern and spotlessly clean, with all the comforts of home. The kitchen had a stove and oven, refrigerator and freezer, pots, pans, dishes, and cutlery. There was also a brand-new washing machine, which came in handy halfway through my Sicilian holiday. The apartment was quiet and very dark for sleeping, and the Wi-Fi was reliable with a strong signal. There's a lift to the apartments on the fourth floor, if I remember right. KMC-Red is one of three apartments sharing a hallway: Red, Yellow, and Purple. Yellow and Purple have two bedrooms. My only small complaint was the lack of an outside view. Be sure to give the owner your exact arrival time and agree on where to meet to collect the key. KMC-Red is a terrific, very reasonably priced choice for a stay in Palermo.
