Borgo Monteluce

The staff who welcomed us were friendly and available if we needed information during our stay. Our studio had everything two people could need, and the pool was a nice size. The view was spectacular. The one thing that disappointed us was the cleanliness when we arrived: it was dirty and covered in cobwebs. Such a shame.

The hosts were courteous and helpful, and the rooms were bright, roomy, and well equipped, with simple furnishings. The air conditioning worked well. The pool is large, with plenty of loungers, and the property is isolated and very quiet. It’s easy to reach from the main road, though the signs are sparse. The lake view is fantastic, and the only sounds are from the road far below. There are several ways the place feels a bit stingy. Outdoor lighting is almost nonexistent apart from a small lamp, and the step lights that should come on as you walk don’t always work. After sunset, the whole property is dark. The pool also lacks a proper filtration system, so there were too many dead insects on the surface. The hosts said someone comes by every now and then to clean it, but we never saw anyone. There’s no lighting around the pool either, so no evening swims. You pay for electricity based on use, which is unusual for a property like this. Apparently there’s no gas, so you have to rely on an induction hob and electric water heater, with their limitations. They also cut corners on little things: there’s only a tiny sachet of soap, only the first four coffee pods are included and the rest cost extra, and there wasn’t even a trash bag in the bathroom. Spending a little more on those details would make guests more comfortable.

Giulio was attentive and offered useful tips on shops and restaurants nearby. We had a wonderful stay at "Borgo Monteluce," especially enjoying the pool as a break from the heat. Our family stayed in a three-bedroom apartment, and we all felt very comfortable, including the children. It had everything we needed to cook for ourselves. We had a fully equipped kitchen for preparing our own meals, and the staff were kind and helpful. The atmosphere across the property was friendly, and even the small imperfections didn’t affect the quality of our stay. It feels like a little settlement on a slope, made up of several buildings with apartments in different sizes, all fitting together nicely, and there’s a beautiful lake view. A small pool, about 10x5 meters, is on site. The apartments in the buildings by the pool have air conditioning; elsewhere, there are fans. The Wi-Fi was very poor and only worked in the courtyard. Some things could use replacement or renovation, including the bedroom flooring on the second floor of apartment no. 2 and the faucets.
