It’s a beautiful Etruscan arch and well worth a visit. On the front you can see an inscription commissioned by the emperor Hadrian, who had renamed the city Perusia.
The Etruscan Arch of Perugia is striking, with its gleaming travertine and the inscription “AUGUSTA PERUSIA.” That name honors Emperor Augustus, who conquered the city. “COLONIA VIBIA” refers to Emperor C. Vibio Treboniano Gallus, who was born in Perugia.
The Etruscans built this monumental structure to last. Definitely worth a look.
If you’re interested in Perugia’s history, this is a must-see.
