La casa nel Borgo

We left La Casa nel Borgo (Angelica) grateful for the stay and already wanting to return. The Angelica apartment and Montichiello together made for one of the most magical trips we’ve had anywhere. Marco was an outstanding host, warm, professional, attentive and quick to respond before and during our visit. Communication was reassuring and easy. He even arranged for us to drive into the ZTL at check-in and check-out to load and unload our luggage at the apartment, which made things much smoother. The village is peaceful and feels like a fairy-tale medieval place, authentic and away from tourist crowds. The Tuscan countryside all around is magnificent, with rolling hills, views in every direction and an almost unreal sense of calm. It’s still a practical base, about a 15-minute drive from Pienza, Montepulciano and the rest of Val d’Orcia. For such a small village, Montichiello has three to four excellent dining options, all just a short walk from the apartment. Angelica is a beautiful two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment with vaulted ceilings, rustic medieval character and the modern comforts you want. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfortable, with big modern showers, bidets and plenty of vanity space. The kitchen has everything needed, including a dishwasher, gas stove, fridge and dishes. There’s also a washer and dryer on the ground floor, which made the stay convenient. The apartment was spotless, romantic and full of charm. Parking is outside the ZTL, about a seven-minute walk away. That’s normal for a historic hilltop village, and it helps keep Montichiello so quiet and charming. For us, it was a small trade-off for a magical, traffic-free setting. La Casa nel Borgo (Angelica) and Montichiello exceeded our expectations: an authentic, peaceful Tuscan stay away from crowds but close to everything.
