La Dimora Di Pienza

The last time we came back to what used to feel like our home in Italy, it just didn't feel like home anymore. We got married in Pienza 20 years ago, and for a few years we stayed at this hotel regularly, often several times a year. For years it was our go-to place to relax, eat well, and enjoy excellent service. The peaceful atmosphere has given way to a busy, touristy feel. The lovely reading room, where we used to sit in a comfy chair with a book and a glass of wine, is now a breakfast room and a walkway to the restaurant. The reception, once warm and thoughtful, now feels like any other reception. The terrace was the worst change. It used to be a haven where we could spend hours enjoying the scenery and quiet with a glass of wine. Now it's a busy restaurant with a pool bar, and the scenery is completely hidden behind a massive restaurant setup. Waiters smoking cigarettes add to the party atmosphere. We didn't try the restaurant. It just didn't seem worth it. If we want pool bars and a party feel, we'll go somewhere else, not to a 13th-century convent.

My wife and I first came here for our honeymoon 25 years ago, and we returned for our silver wedding anniversary. Magical! This is a romantic hotel with absolutely breathtaking views, though it isn't a luxury hotel in the usual sense.

Taceddin was very kind at breakfast and with everything else. The staff were so helpful and gave us all the information we needed. The hotel itself was beautiful, nice, and cute.
