Pietrabruna is a welcoming village, and we had a lovely five-day stay. The accommodation was spotless and well equipped with everything we needed. The owner was kind, and so were the locals. Some of the negative reviews feel harsh; hills, steep roads, and winding routes are part of an Italian mountain village, and you can check the access on Google Maps beforehand. Getting to and from the village takes care, but it's manageable even for a newly licensed driver, and the mountain views are lovely. The apartment is damp, which is its one real drawback. The owner has installed ventilation, air conditioning, and extraction systems that help reduce the moisture. We recommend it for a quiet, relaxing break. We gave five stars to offset reviews we felt didn't reflect the overall stay; otherwise, we'd have rated it four.

The apartment is nicely furnished and could be relaxing, but it's damp and nothing dries out. Everything stays moist. Getting there is quite an adventure: the road is very narrow and winding, and not suitable for new drivers. Parking is uncertain, and the steep path to the apartment means you should pack light. It's not a great spot for dogs either, with little greenery and mostly asphalt. People are friendly and greet you, though many understand English. The owner didn't know the area well and couldn't answer questions about dog beaches or restaurants. Bring supplies from a larger town, and allow time and patience for the drive: it's about 10 km but takes around 20 minutes.

Though the apartment looks cute, I wouldn't book it unless musty, damp conditions sound appealing. We were worried about getting sick from the mold, and found the place disgusting and not fit to rent. After three unbearable days, we moved to a hotel. The listing was inaccurate too: saying the parking is 100 meters away seriously understates the trek, and hauling luggage to the apartment was a nightmare. The access road is so narrow and winding that it feels safe only in a small car. The supposed shop is almost a joke, with cookies and drinks but no salt, sugar, or coffee. The waterfall can only be reached by car, and only if you have a small SUV. The advertised restaurant was closed, and the landlord seemed completely clueless. Luckily, we found a small hotel that suited us. Never again.
