Hotel La Magione

We had a comfortable, happy stay, and the reception and cleaning staff were lovely. Grazie mille!

The bar was a convenient part of our stay, well stocked and pleasant to spend time in. We also liked being able to have breakfast at Hotel Alcide, which is in the same chain and has an excellent restaurant. I was here for work and had a great time at this 4-star hotel. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, and you can see they're working on improving and renovating the common areas. I recommend it for business travelers.

I'm a professional photographer, and I'm writing this so others don't make the same mistake when picking a hotel. In all my travels, I've never stayed in a 4-star hotel like this. I feel they owe an apology to other 4-star hotels that work honestly and diligently. I slept only five hours over two nights because of the problems in the room. The walls were thin, so I could clearly hear the toilet and conversations from the next room. Loud chatter from the cleaning staff woke me up. The room door was broken and hard to close, and the bathroom door wouldn't open once shut. They forced it open with a sigh and no apology. The sink drained up immediately, the shower pressure was weak, and a strange green light flashed on the bedroom ceiling. The outlets were so high that my adapter kept falling. There were also stains from an unknown person on the pillow, which looked like blood. Even though I went to the breakfast area during the stated hours, I was grumpily told it was closed. After all this, I had no reason to stay longer, so I calmly and politely asked for a refund for the remaining two nights. They didn't apologize at all and simply said, “We can refund the 12 euro tax.” I didn't understand. The manager was absolutely terrible. Their heavily accented English was hard to understand, and for each thing I said, they repeated ten things back. They wouldn't give their conclusion first and kept rapidly repeating points we'd already discussed. It was incredibly difficult to follow, and they wouldn't listen to my view. Even when I tried to communicate as best I could with translation apps, they only made excuses and justified what was convenient for them. Before I had finished, they said, “Talking to you takes too much time. I'm busy,” and ran off, even though I was the only person at the front desk. I've visited over 30 countries and stayed at many hotels. This is the first time I've had a manager make me so uncomfortable, refuse a refund, and run away during a conversation. The whole front desk experience was unpleasant, as was the room. With a manager like that, it's no wonder the red-haired woman at reception was sighing and typing loudly on her keyboard. Despite everything, this 4-star hotel refused to refund the 110 euros for the remaining two nights. They apparently didn't consider that a customer could have such a disgusting experience, receive no apology or refund, and decide never to return, lose trust, and write reviews like this. They're clearly business novices. After reading other reviews on Google Maps, I understand. That's all.

I'd paid in advance the day before for a savory breakfast, planning my business trip down to the minute. When I got there in the morning, it hadn't been prepared. I had to leave without breakfast and, with my work schedule so tight, went without food until noon. The whole thing was unprofessional and really irritating.
