Poggio Al Vento turned out to be such a good move for us. We booked at the last minute after a terrible first night at a nearby place, and were so glad we switched. Our apartment was roomy, the bed was really comfortable, and the views around the property were beautiful from nearly every angle. It’s set off a quiet little road, and the double-glazed windows helped keep noise between apartments down. There’s a shared washing machine guests can use for free. After days out exploring, the three-tier pool was just right for a refreshing dip. The separate terraces also gave us a bit more privacy. The woman who runs the place was friendly and very accommodating. She even switched to English when my broken Italian made things easier.

The dogs were a huge disappointment. The owners keep six dogs in a kennel on site overnight, and they bark, whine, and howl all night. Every morning at 5:30 they all howl continuously for over an hour. During the day, some are loose. They poop by the pool, bark, beg and scrounge while you're eating, and one came into our apartment and took one of our baby's toys. There was also a local fitness class twice a day for an hour, very loud and right outside our apartment. It woke our baby several times, and wasn't what we wanted to hear on this kind of holiday. The owners live opposite us with a large family, and their many toys were strewn everywhere. It felt like we were holidaying in someone's backyard.

Ivana was especially kind, accommodating, and helpful during our five-day stay. The Relais sits among greenery in the quiet Tuscan countryside, and it’s a lovely place to slow down and enjoy the natural surroundings. There are three large pools, open at any time of day. My family and I had a wonderful time resting and relaxing here.

A lovely holiday apartment on a beautiful property, in a very quiet setting with gorgeous surroundings and lots of places to visit on day trips. You'll need a car or bicycle to get around.
