B&B Frangi

Breakfast is included in the room rate and was excellent. Frangi B&B is a simple, comfortable place, a short distance from the Sanctuary and Pompeii's historic center. The rooms are clean and spacious.

The score of 9.4/10 and the word “fabulous” on Booking.com led us to this property, and I found that rating and description misleading. Getting into the apartment through a typical iron garage door already gave a poor first impression. Inside, it felt like an early 1960s apartment, with Formica furnishings from that period. Our room's bathroom had a sink smaller than one in an old camper. The toilet seat was broken, as was the towel rack. I told the owner the seat had already been mentioned in an April review, and was told it had broken that very morning and couldn't be replaced. There were some positives: the owners were friendly and helpful, parking nearby was free, and the archaeological site was genuinely close. Breakfast had no savory options at first, but when we asked, they quickly brought fresh bread with cheese and ham. They said they usually only provide packaged croissants and toast because “COVID restrictions are still in place,” though those restrictions have long been over. Other properties, including B&Bs, offer fresh croissants rather than supermarket ones, along with cakes, bread, cured meats, and cheeses. As a traveler, I found the Booking.com rating and its impression of the property's standard completely inadequate and, above all, misleading.

The staff are friendly and make you feel at home. The rooms are small but functional, and having a fridge with a freezer was a godsend in summer. Parking is convenient, and the center is nearby.
