Villa Porpora

We wanted to cancel and leave because the room was so unhygienic, but Booking.com wouldn't allow it. The host refused to cancel directly, saying she couldn't do anything. That wasn't true, and I showed her the procedure right in front of her. After an hour and a half of arguing, we finally got into the room. It hadn't been cleaned: hair everywhere, cigarette butts on the balcony, dirt on the floor, and dirty sheets covered in stains and hair. Before that, the receptionist had tried to charge us twice for the room even though we'd already paid through Booking.com. She acted as if she didn't understand, then tried to add €20 for parking, although it was clearly included in the price. The whole thing was a disaster from start to finish, with a haughty, dishonest attitude and no sense of service. Between the attempted scam and the state of the room, it's outrageous. Avoid this place, even for one night. There are much better options elsewhere.

It was quiet, and the room was nicely furnished. The small balcony had a table and chairs. The room was fairly clean, though the fridge didn't work.

The location is nice, and the room was tidy. Towels were changed neatly, and there's a washing machine and ironing board. Entry is by code, so no key is needed. The shared kitchen was incomplete and not very useful, since the appliances didn't work, and the pans and cutlery were dirty.

Villa Porpora has no assistance on site, so you're on your own, but it does have a kitchen for cooking and eating, including a microwave, and a shared lounge. Everything was very clean. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the price is more than reasonable. It's close to the excavations. We could leave our car at the other location where check-in happens, about 200 meters from the excavations, and breakfast is served there too. Excellent location for visiting Pompeii, highly recommended.
