Villa delle Rose

The apartment is really well cared for, with air conditioning and all the equipment you need for a rental. Carla, the host, is wonderful and gave us help throughout our stay.

At Villa delle Rose, the train station is just ten meters away, and the heat and humidity felt oppressive. I spent four days there, partly for work and partly to relax. I was eight and a half months pregnant during the hottest summer of the century, so I chose the place for its advertised air conditioning. When we arrived, the villa looked enchanting and every detail seemed carefully done. The renovation was perfect, in my opinion as someone who works in that field regularly. But inside our assigned apartment, it was immediately hot, stuffy, and stifling. There were fan coils, but they were off. I asked right away if they could be turned on and adjusted. The lady said no, that they weren't to be touched, that the system was centralized and programmed to run by the hour. Every request got another excuse: “It's not hot, it's fine,” “the regulations,” and “no one ever said anything.” It was clear she didn't intend to help. To quiet me, she brought over an old 1980s fan and reminded me to turn it off when I left the apartment. The air conditioning ran from 8 to 10 in the morning, which seemed like a waste of energy, since Mrs. delle Rose's “brilliant” rules were to cool the rooms in the morning and switch everything off during the hottest hours. The three fan coil units came on intermittently for maybe three hours a day. Night temperatures were around 30 degrees, and with the station right there, I'm sure I learned the schedule of every train. When I reported the fault and how uncomfortable I was, the lady gave me more pointless excuses and said I was the first person to complain. This will be the last time she hears from me.

Anna and her husband were welcoming, and the stay was pleasant overall. The villa has recently been renovated and is beautiful, with a well-kept garden and private parking. The owners were courteous and available to help with requests, and the apartment had everything a family might need, including dishes and linens. The beds were disappointing. The mattresses weren't comfortable and there wasn't a proper cover between them and the sheets. The location gives quick access to amenities and the center of Portogruaro, but the villa is right next to the railway line. Passing trains disturbed us during rest hours, including at night. Even better soundproofing probably wouldn't have reduced the noise much. It's a real shame.

The host was welcoming and helpful, and the property was comfortable, very nice, and had all the amenities. The one drawback was how close it is to the train tracks.
