Hot water stopped working three times during our six-night stay, and technicians had to come back repeatedly to get it going again. It kept interrupting the holiday and made it hard to relax. The campsite itself is quite nice, but our mobile home had a veranda in dreadful shape, with broken boards and nails sticking out that felt like a real safety hazard. Staff only hammered down a few nails as a temporary fix, while admitting the whole thing urgently needed replacing. They offered just a much smaller bungalow as an alternative, and refused to shorten our stay, even though no other accommodation seemed occupied. The staff were very uncooperative. Given the safety issues, I absolutely wouldn’t recommend the mobile homes.

Camping Ermosa was the worst campsite we visited in our five weeks driving around Europe, and by far the most expensive. It was even twice the price of a place beside an exquisite lake in Switzerland. There was rubbish all along the walk to the beach, and it really needs someone to take pride in picking it up. The toilets were disgusting, with urine on the seats and no toilet paper or soap. For a night in a campervan we paid €72, which made that even more astonishing. The showers were filthy and smelled of urine, with dirty water and hair stuck all over the walls. It smelled of urine outside the toilets, too. They apparently clean the toilets twice a day, but I didn’t see anyone clean them or notice any cleaning during the 24 hours we were there. I don’t recommend it.

The beach is really nice, though it may not be a good fit for small children or babies. Mine had to wait on the sand, and maybe it would be better on a day without wind, but I can’t say for sure. I’d read great reviews, so I decided to go. I’d also heard it was a family-run campsite, which sounded nice. I got a very good reply to my email in excellent English, but at the campsite nobody spoke English while I was there. My bad experience was with a long-haired, gray-haired man who was impolite and a bit rude. We only wanted to ask where to return our tag because we’d forgotten it when checking out. Since the staff didn’t speak English or even try to, they seemed to get annoyed very quickly, which made things feel awkward. The woman serving at the pizzeria was lovely, and the women who handled checkout were very nice too.

The location is a plus, right by the beach and a small town, but the overall stay was negative and I wouldn’t recommend this campsite, mainly because of the staff’s attitude. The toilets are dated, with squat toilets, and the showers are so small I could barely shower in one. Some staff were rude, especially a man who smelled strongly of alcohol and rode his bike around the campsite all day with an intimidating manner. It was extremely uncomfortable. The garbage setup was ridiculous too: we had set times to take rubbish out, and a staff member watched to make sure we sorted the recycling their way.

The free WiFi was great, and the beach is only a five-minute walk away. Staff were friendly, and they offer bread service and free hot showers. This was our first night ever in a camper, and we had a nice stay.
