Amalia opens her home, kitchen, arms, and heart to guests, and you may find yourself grateful to have met her and sad to leave. The breakfast is made just for you with things from Amalia’s garden. Expect no car at your disposal, no car traffic or noise, and a short walk along an ancient Path. It’s quiet except for a few roosters and maybe a donkey, with sun like you’ve never felt, views of both mountains and sea, and a constant breeze. If that sounds appealing, book a stay. You’ll understand why this place deserves a sixth star, and Amalia a seventh.

Amalia’s villa has a view all across the coast, with what feels like an endless horizon and such peaceful surroundings. The room has all the facilities you need, and the location was another reason this became one of my favorite stays on our Italy honeymoon. I actually preferred Nocelle to Positano. It’s a small village near Positano, and we could take the bus between them, with Nocelle as the first stop and Positano the last, about 30 minutes. We spent the day there. Amalia was like a mama to us. She met us each morning, cooked in the real Italian way, mostly using ingredients from her garden, and made an amazing breakfast. Ask her about the special sweet coffee! She also talked through our plans and gave us tips that honestly saved us some headaches. We really hope to come back one day.

Breakfast was a real highlight. Amalia and Lucy brought a generous gourmet spread right to our room each morning, with local meats and cheeses, fresh fruit and vegetables straight from the garden, all beautifully presented and delicious. The villa is stunning and well kept, with vivid flowers, lush greenery, and incredible views. Amalia was gracious, attentive, and went out of her way to help. She booked dinner reservations, found us a guide for the Path of the Gods hike, arranged drivers for nearby towns, and shared great dining and local suggestions. Her warmth made this peaceful, beautiful stay feel special. It was relaxing and inspiring, and we can’t wait to return. If you want a scenic, peaceful, authentically Italian escape, this is it.

Amalia and Lucia made an amazing breakfast spread every morning, and Amalia was thoughtful about my sister’s allergies, taking care that nothing would trigger them. She helped with anything we needed to keep the trip running smoothly, and her huge heart made us feel like we were visiting a home far from our own. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived until we flew home. The house also has the most beautiful view from the top. This was possibly the best part of our three weeks in Italy, and Amalia made our time on the Amalfi unforgettable. I’ll miss staying here so much. Sending love from Singapore!

The bus makes it fairly easy to get between Nocelle and central Positano, and Amalia is lovely about explaining the route and suggesting things to do in town. Just be aware the ride is winding, as you’d expect on the coast, so going back and forth every day could be tough if you get very motion sick. The peaceful setting near the Path of the Gods made it worthwhile. For getting there from Naples, ask Amalia about a private transfer. Public transit can get complicated and tiring, and although the private ride costs more, she’s open about the options and it’s worth it. This is long overdue, but I had to come back to write about Amalia. I stayed with a friend in August 2024, and it was the most magical place on the Amalfi Coast. I’d return just to enjoy the Airbnb more. She made fresh breakfast to order every day and left enough meal snacks in the fridge for several lunches. On mornings when tours meant we had to leave early and miss breakfast, she even provided free vouchers for a lovely, delicious cafe in the centre of Palermo. The fresh figs and locally sourced ingredients were wonderful, and the view was jaw-dropping.
