Villa Fortuna

The rooftop deck was our favorite spot at Jasmine Flower, the top floor of Villa Fortuna. We’d head up from the kitchen to have morning coffee or toast the day’s adventures in the evening. The views are tremendous, and the extra bedroom and spacious kitchen made the apartment a great fit for our family. The beds were comfy too. Diana made everything easy, from airport transport to a private cooking class at a local cafe. She also pointed us to a boat tour with Mario, who can sail and sing, and her suggestions for drinks and dinner were always spot on. She was an amazing host, concierge, and friendly guide, and made the trip feel spectacular. Villa Fortuna worked well as a base for exploring. We took a water taxi to Capri, buses to Amalfi and Ravello, and went to Pompeii by bus and private transport with a great guide. We also took a bus to the Path of the Gods and hiked back to Positano, a once in a lifetime experience. We were always glad to return to our home away from home. There’s a tobacconist across the street with provisions and water for the daily treks, and the bus stops right out front, handy for seeing other Amalfi Coast towns. Yogoloso Positano is just downstairs and out the door, a quick place for friendly, fast morning coffee. Positano is beautiful and walkable, with local attractions, shops, and fantastic restaurants, but be ready for stairs on the way back up. We look forward to returning someday. We loved having a patio and a view, and the rooms were adorable, comfortable, and clean. The hotel felt charming, and the service was personal. They helped with reservations and found solutions for our transfers from Naples. We visited in low season, and there was an open restaurant and cafe right across the street. The path down to the beach starts just a few steps along the street, and you can take the bus back if you like. It was a great experience for us.

The neighborhood was quiet, comfortable, and felt very safe. Villa Fortuna is also conveniently close to both beaches, the marina, and the downtown area. A Tabacchi and bar right on the corner made it easy to grab drinks, snacks, stamps, or souvenirs while heading out or coming back. Diana was welcoming and accommodating, made check-in seamless, and helped arrange transportation. We stayed in the Bougainvillea room, which was beautiful, spacious, updated, and functional. I’d definitely stay here again next time I’m in Positano, as long as it’s still as surprisingly affordable as it was for us.

We liked staying in Upper Positano, away from the crowds, and the villa was very quiet. We never heard the neighbors or outside noise. It costs about half as much as staying closer to the beach, but the whole town is still walkable if you’re in decent shape, or there’s the public bus. We walked down to the center each morning and back up each evening without trouble. I even wore heels twice. Good exercise! The bus stop is right outside the door, so you don’t have to carry luggage up steps, and the bus can drop you right back at the door too. The apartment was beautifully decorated and absolutely spotless, including the lobby. Shout out to the wonderful Marta! There was enough room for all four of us, and our teenagers, 19 and 17, slept comfortably on the pull out sofa. A bakery is right next door, where we got breakfast and cappuccinos every morning. Several wonderful restaurants with gorgeous views are nearby as well. Diana communicated well before and during our trip, helped arrange activities, and gave us great recommendations for a private boat charter, restaurants, and a private airport transfer that dropped us at the door.
