Midenza Seaside & Nature Retreat

We stayed in the beach side residence, not the hill side. It’s a very nice, dog-friendly resort with a private beach. The room was spacious and clean, breakfast was fresh and good, and service was good overall. The restaurant was the weak point for us, with limited choices and only so-so food. The resort next door played loud music every day from around 7pm until midnight. We didn’t mind too much since we were usually out in the evenings. The beach is pebbly, so bring shoes if you want to walk along it.

We were in the downstairs accommodation, about 50 m from the sea. The food and room were very good, and the staff were genuinely kind. The sandy beach has small stones, so watershoes are a good idea. It was also suitable for our small child, who was 2. We recommend it.

I came across this place by chance while looking for Italian resorts, and I’m glad I gave it a try. The online photos are lovely, but being there in person is even better. We came back this year for 10 days. Exceptional! I don’t have anything to add that hasn’t already been said.

The owners made us feel welcome straight away, showing us around and explaining the route down to the beach. They even gave us a basket of fresh vegetables from their own garden. Our Studio Deluxe Sea View apartment looked quite new and was very clean, with a parking space right by it and a stunning view across the whole area, sunsets included. Tono beach is about a 10-minute walk down a steep road. You can drive too, and park at Midenza Residence. Two chairs and an umbrella are provided. Since we were there outside the main season, the beach was really quiet. We also drove to other beaches near Tropea, about 20 minutes away by car. The owners were so friendly and special, and their son speaks English very well. We had a lovely holiday at Capo Vaticano and would book this apartment again and again.
