Hotel Donau

We paid €165 for one night, and the air conditioning didn’t work. We reported it that evening and even asked the owner to check the room temperature, but were told nothing could be done. The owners then disappeared without an apology or any offer, even though they had insisted on advance payment. If a paid service isn’t provided, I think the customer should get a refund. The room was in rough shape too. The drawers snagged as you pulled them out, and the shower was so tiny it felt like you’d be stuck there for the rest of your holiday. This is called a three-star hotel, but in my view it deserves one star at most. I strongly advise against staying here.

The managers were friendly and had a good sense of humor, and the location is very convenient, practically right on the sea. We stayed four days with seven friends, booking two quadruple rooms. Both were cleaned every morning. One room was much larger, while the other was so small it hardly felt like a quadruple. We had a great time, but I’m giving four stars because they had no card terminal. Cash was the only accepted payment, which was pretty disappointing to hear in 2022.

The one bright spot was the managers, who were genuinely friendly and helpful. But that can’t make up for how awful the rest was. Our two booked rooms were completely different: one had air conditioning, but it was very noisy; the other was stifling, with no hairdryer. The sheets and towels were worn, the shower was tiny, and the ATM never worked. The place was dirty, and they didn’t provide any kind of reliable service. I could go on. This hotel is supposed to have three stars, but it doesn’t deserve even one. Good intentions alone aren’t enough to run a hotel.

It was fine for one night. Our beds were comfortable, the room was cool, and there was a TV. The room for two wasn’t very big, but it was clean and had a shower. The hotel seemed to have been renovated recently, and they take card payments. The beach is two minutes away, and the Metromare stop is about a ten-minute walk. There were just two little lines by the window for hanging beach towels and swimsuits, which probably wasn’t enough, but it worked for a night.
