The breakfasts were good, but that was the only positive for me. Our room looked nothing like the pictures online, and most of the staff seemed odd and unfriendly, apart from the waitress. There was no warning on the hotel Palma page that you have to hand over your car keys. If you don’t, you may have to pay for parking quite far away. They move your car between parking spaces, and you don’t know whether the person driving it has a licence or knows how to drive. When I asked for a document recording the car’s condition and any damage, I was given a handwritten note with no legal value. I also left a valuable dress on the bed by mistake when checking out. I contacted the hotel the next day as soon as I noticed, and was told housekeeping had put it in the rubbish because they thought I didn’t want it anymore. It was my belonging, left on the bed, not in or near the bin. I asked how that could have happened on WhatsApp because I wanted to act quickly, but got no further reply. I then emailed a formal complaint and still haven’t heard back. It was a two-night stay that caused me more stress than any other travel situation in my life.

The room was cramped, with the toilet right beside the sink and the bidet practically beside that. The bunk bed had no ladder, and there was just one power outlet for the whole room. We’d booked half board, but had to cross the street and go to the first floor of another hotel for meals, which was especially annoying at breakfast and in bad weather. The food was always lukewarm, and the appetizer queue stretched several metres, longer than the one at the post office. We’d been quoted a room with a double bunk bed, but after paying the deposit were told only a single bunk bed room was available, at the same price. Parking was quoted as 10 euros per day in advance, but on arrival they tried to charge 14, then backed down and said sometimes it’s 10 and sometimes 14. There was no hair dryer in the room; the small travel one they gave us couldn’t even dry my children’s short hair. The air conditioning vented through a hose in the shower. Sorry, but no.
