Hotel Rivarolo

The agency later told us the hotel claimed we had asked to go to the airport. That was an outright lie. At the airport, both the airline and agency were shocked, and confirmed in writing that we were meant to stay until our next flights. They said they had told the hotel exactly that, and there are screenshots. The hotel misled around 50 stranded passengers, the airline, and the agency. Staff were rude and aggressive, and threatened people who had nowhere else to go. This started after our Milan Malpensa flight was cancelled late on 17 Oct. The airline arranged for about 50 of us to stay here through an agent, telling the hotel that people had different flights over the next 2-3 days and should remain until then. We arrived at 5:30 am. Reception held our passports for what they called a quick check-in, which I understood and didn't mind, and said they'd update us in the afternoon. My replacement flight was on 19 Oct, so I expected to stay two nights, just as the airline had instructed. At noon I went to get my passport. Laura at reception said I had to check out, then told me to leave NOW. I asked if they'd heard from the airline, and she said no, but it was time to go. When I explained my flight was the following night, she said they didn't talk to the airline and couldn't call them. She told me to hand back the key, take my passport, and get on the bus. I said I needed to speak to the airline first. She insisted I had to go and said, “Vai vai!” I went back to call the airline, but then hotel staff rang my room and said I had to leave immediately or they'd send someone. I asked for 15 minutes to pack, and they agreed before hanging up. I packed, went downstairs, returned the key, and only then got my passport. A bus was waiting, and everyone was told to board. I dread to think how tourists might be treated at the upcoming Winter Olympics or other events in and around Turin, if this is how they handle people in distress. I've asked my company's travel partners to blacklist the property, and I'm considering a formal consumer complaint. Honestly, better to camp in a nearby field. Avoid at all costs.

It was quiet and really affordable, and my room was clean and tidy. The staff were amazing, easy to approach, and willing to help however they could. I hope to come back.

There's a handy location and a really nice cafe/bar downstairs, just outside the main entrance. Service was very friendly and helpful. I'm giving it 4 based on the price and value for money.
