The room was clean and nice, with good air conditioning and a good shower. Alessia and her husband were very friendly. It was a 10-minute walk to the Colosseum and the ancient town. No complaints at all.

We had a comfortable room for four, and the location was handy for walking to via nazzionale, restaurants, and bars. But on our last night the air conditioner stopped working. Someone came to try to fix it, but it still wasn't working, and the hotel only said, “I'm sorry.” We had a really bad night, and expected more. They didn't offer another room, a discount, or even a ride to the airport. In nearly 27 years of traveling on my own, this was the first time a room problem was answered with just a sorry text.

The location is the main thing this property has going for it. It's within a 15-minute walk of the Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, Spanish Steps, and other sights, with several restaurants nearby. The building is old, on the fifth floor, and the exterior areas were dusty, dirty, and in need of repairs. The elevator often took a long time. Our room was too small for our family of four, with a bunk bed for two adults; it would only be adequate for a couple. We also weren't told at first that we needed a code to enter, so we had to call the contact person. On the first day we didn't see any staff, and had to communicate with the manager through WhatsApp.

The one helpful thing the owner did was arrange a car to pick me up from the airport. The driver charged me 65 Euros, though, more than the owner had told me. I think it might have cost only 40-50 Euros. I felt miserable here and won't stay in this kind of place again. The rooms were very small and narrow, and the food was meager, just a few croissants and a coffee machine, with no one serving or checking on guests. When I returned from sightseeing in the evening, the room was cold. I later realized the cleaner had opened the windows, and the heater was unplugged. With no one at the front desk, I had to message the owner on WhatsApp to work out how the heating worked and turn it on myself. While I was trying to get warm and asking for help, I felt nervous and thought the owner was blaming me for the heater problem. The front desk person is only there from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM and can't speak English. I was disappointed and on edge during my stay.
