A Casa Simpatia

We got to Casa Simpatia an hour late because of a train delay, after booking at the last minute through Booking.com, where it was listed as four stars. They didn't want to let us in, as though the delay meant we no longer deserved a bed. Once we finally got inside, the room was completely different from the photos, old and depressing. At night the neighborhood felt unsafe, and our window faced a street where drunk people shouted until morning. We waited for sunrise and ran out at 6 a.m. The name “Casa Simpatia” sounds sweet, but there was nothing sympathetic about the stay. One star, since zero isn't an option.

We stayed at via bixio. The location was handy, close to the metro and centro, with a supermarket 50 m away beside the tram stop, a café around the corner, and the best Chinese restaurant right next door. It's also very close to Termini, where there were drug addicts lying in the streets and so on. The room was clean and nice, but for me and my 9yr son, staying 6 nights was a partial struggle. I'd recommend it for adults for two nights maximum. There was nowhere to prepare food, no knife, plate, or table. During the heat wave we didn't get clean sheets, we weren't told where to leave garbage, and there was no way to wash clothes, though super fast lavatoria! was around the corner. Payment was cash only and there was no receipt. We asked as soon as we arrived if we could leave our luggage at the apartment for 3 more hours. The man said, 'no problem, I will give you code for the doors last day', but I never heard from him again, so we paid another 10 euro to store it at termini. It was doable.

The rooms were pretty and clean. Staying there and visiting Roma was an amazing experience.

We slept really well, with no noise at all, and the location was just right for us. The room was clean and had its own bathroom. Thanks especially to Dagmar and Tatiana for communicating with us. We'd highly recommend it, and we'd like to thank you for the accommodation.
