We were pleasantly surprised by the daily cleaning, including fresh towels every other day. The rooms are simple, but very clean and comfortable, with lighting I really liked and a well-stocked bathroom. The place felt quiet even though it’s so central, away from the main road. Trevi and the metro are about an eight-minute walk, and there’s a Tigre supermarket five minutes away. We stayed at A Star in for four nights. I’d been a little unsure about security in a small guest house, but you pass through two gates before reaching the two flats. Each flat has around six rooms, a lounge, and a small kitchenette for tea, coffee, or breakfast, plus a little fridge for storing things like milk. If we come back to Rome, we’d stay here again. Highly recommend it.

The door trapped us in our room twice during our honeymoon, and the staff’s response left us anxious about our safety. We lost two days of our planned itinerary and spent the trip stressed. On the first night, we came back from dinner and couldn’t get out because the door had malfunctioned. A repairman arrived about an hour after we called, but after over an hour trying, he still couldn’t fix it. The hotel’s suggestion was to “sleep with the door open.” We refused and asked for it to be repaired by 7:00 the next morning. They said they understood, but the next day we were stuck inside again for an hour. We asked for a refund. It seemed to be under discussion while we were there, but after the trip the hotel stopped replying. No official apology, compensation, or refund ever came. We were visiting Rome for our honeymoon, and this was the worst hotel experience we’ve had. There are lots of good hotels in Rome, so I strongly advise against this one if safety and responsible service matter to you.

The location made a great base for a short city trip. There’s a Piazza with places to eat, a metro stop, and e-bike racks just a couple of minutes away. Trevi Fountain is five or six minutes on foot, the Spanish Steps around eight, Termini about fifteen, and the Colosseum roughly 20-25 minutes. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the little kitchen area with a fridge and coffee facilities was handy. The TV worked, though the selection of international channels was limited. There were plenty of sockets, a small safe, blackout blinds, and a shower with strong pressure and lots of hot water. It’s more like guest house rooms or an Airbnb than a full hotel. There’s no 24-hour reception, room service, ice machine, or bar on site, so keep that in mind.

The owner was quick to reply on WhatsApp and very helpful. The housekeeping lady was polite and helpful too, and kept the place neat and clean. There’s a lobby with two big sofas. My room had two large windows and a round table that was just right for working on my laptop. It was spacious, clean, and tidy, and the toilet was spotless, with equipment that looked very new. The towels felt like five-star hotel towels. The kitchen had a microwave, espresso maker, milk frother, kettle, and lots of dining utensils, plus olive oil and balsamic sauce with a real Italian taste. Recommended. See my photos for more.

Lucrezia made the logistics easy for our group of eight women, who were all arriving at different times, and arranged transport to and from the flat. We were close to lovely shops and good restaurants, with the National Museum next door. I hope I can return one day. The beautiful flat is only a few blocks from Trevi Fountain. Each of its six bedrooms had an en-suite bathroom and felt comfortable, clean, and individual. There was room for all of us in the living area, which had a fun bohemian feel. We also made breakfast each morning using the kitchenette’s espresso maker, kettle, toaster, microwave, and two fridges. I’d highly recommend it for a group.
