Aida Charming Rooms

I found the hotel horrible. The room was tiny and dirty, the toilet brush was the most disgusting I've ever seen, and the toilet wouldn't flush properly. The walls were really thin. The owner felt creepy to me, sitting there at all hours and trying to start a conversation whenever I came into the flat or left my room. If I'd been traveling on my own, I wouldn't have stayed there.

We were only there for one day. The rooms were clean, the caretaker was polite and helpful, and the price was much lower than other Rome hotels. It's a good budget option if your expectations are modest. The city center is a little far away, though transportation is available nearby.

The bed was really nice, but the hotel is clearly starting to fall apart. There was a hole in the bathroom ceiling, which made being in there a bit uncomfortable. You get what you pay for. It's the kind of place to come back to from the city, shower, sleep, then head out again.

We booked four nights but left after the first two, from 23.04 to 25.04 2022. The smell of fungus, mold, and damp kept us from sleeping, and we were worried about our health. The stench throughout the apartment was so bad it made us gag. There was mold and moisture in both the bathroom and bedroom. It looked as if the bathroom mold had been painted over temporarily, but it still showed through, and the smell reached the whole apartment. We left a window open to air things out, but it didn't help. The room was in very poor shape, unlike the booking photos, which didn't show the reality. The walls were damaged, the bed was tattered, the bed cover had cigarette burns, and the curtains were perforated. After we complained, the property offered its only other available room. It had just one window, screwed shut with sheet metal screws so it couldn't be opened at all, leaving no fresh air. That room also felt damp, and a piece of cardboard was coming loose directly above the shower. When we asked the service gentleman to come see the problems, he agreed we were right but said it was our problem and, in his view, normal standard. When we were leaving, though, he apologized and admitted we were right. There was one hair dryer for several rooms, and its cables were broken. After we raised the issue, the receptionist bought a new one. An iron was listed in the amenities, but when we asked for it, the gentleman said they had never had one and that it wasn't listed on their website. He told us to find a laundry and pay to use an iron there. Bathrobes were also listed but weren't provided. All of this cost us a lot of time and energy. I strongly warn people against staying here unless they want their holiday ruined. We still haven't received a refund.
