Aldrovandi Residence City Suites

The hotel sits a little outside Rome’s historic center, which made it feel calmer. A complimentary van could take us into the center, so sightseeing or having dinner there was still easy. We stayed for a few days before the pandemic and really enjoyed it. Breakfast was a highlight, with a lovely room looking out over the garden and pool, and the service was exceptional.

It’s not close to the town center, so you’ll need a taxi or the shuttle. The grounds are peaceful, though, with a pool tucked into a private garden and a quiet atmosphere. There’s also a handy golf cart shuttle around the park. Staff were polite, knew their jobs, and the breakfast buffet was very good.

The little garden was a lovely spot to sit with a book, and the rooms are huge, though the hotel has an old-fashioned style. The spa offers plenty of treatments using quality products from local brands and well-known international favorites. The gym is small but has what you need. It’s spotless and fresh-smelling, with up-to-date Technogym equipment and a power plate. Towels, water, and apples with honey are provided. Hospitality and service were impeccable. A great stay, and I’d come back.

Evening cocktails and nibbles in the courtyard were a treat, and there’s a free shuttle to the Spanish Steps. The service was flawless, and they can arrange whatever trips you want. This hotel is fantastic. I’d give it more than five stars if I could!
