Our room was canceled for alleged overbooking just one day before arrival, even though we’d booked nearly two months earlier. The hotel told us at the last minute and did nothing to help find another place. In a touristy city like Rome, finding accommodation the day before is almost impossible, and the prices are much higher. This felt extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel if you want peace of mind and expect your booking to be honored.

We were there for less than five minutes before leaving. The place was musty, moldy, and dirty, and the photos didn’t match reality at all. I don’t recommend it to anyone. I’m attaching a few photos we took there.

We booked four nights but left after two, and even that felt like two nights too many. We asked politely for a refund for the unused nights and got no reply. My wife and I found the place unclean: the toilet was dirty, and the area smelled of urine like a public bathroom. The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows too stiff, and we slept poorly. The shower wouldn’t drain, so we stood in our dirty water while showering, and water leaked all over the bathroom floor. The building is clearly old and poorly maintained. The person running the place sat behind a desk eating and watching TV. When I asked for help with the TV in our room, he didn’t know how to use the controls and just left. I rarely write reviews, but wanted to warn other travelers. Stay at your own risk. If I could, I’d give it zero. I don’t understand the better reviews, and I’m sure anyone who stays will be very disappointed and frustrated.

The rooms have high ceilings and a lot of potential, which makes their poor upkeep a shame. There are no shared facilities, and what we experienced was disappointing, especially for the price. The radiators and door handle had peeling paint, the bathroom door wouldn’t close, the hair dryer was filthy, and the shower enclosure was rusty. The bed had a smelly sheet and what looked like a folded duvet used as a throw, apparently reused without a cover for guests. It was disgusting. There were only two towel sets for our family of three. When we asked about daily towel changes, we were told they don’t do that, though the next day they made an exception and gave us one extra towel. We could hear every guest clearly because the rooms aren’t soundproofed, and the lift was noisy too. We also saw insects in the bathroom near the shower panel. We relied on the reviews and photos when booking, but the stay was very disappointing. We were charged city tax of 7 euros per person per night. Apparently the booking said we’d agreed to it, though I don’t remember that. That’s the Rome tax for a four-star hotel, while for a one-star hotel it’s about 3 euros. I can only imagine how much extra money they make from each guest that doesn’t have to be remitted to the government. At checkout, the man at reception deliberately held things up even though he knew we had a flight to catch. He wanted to make us say we were happy with the stay. The unpleasant accommodation made our Rome experience worse. Beware.

The location and service were good, but the bathroom smell made us really uncomfortable. It may have been because construction work was going on while we were there.
