Aparthotel Adagio Rome Vatican

The restaurant beside the hotel is a real find, with excellent food at reasonable prices. After a day out in the city, the pool was just right for unwinding. The accommodation was comfortable, the service professional, and public transport nearby made getting to the center quick.

The deposit was eventually returned, but only after we said we’d contact the Italian authorities or inspection office. We’d already paid the full amount before arriving, so after settling the tourist tax, being asked for an unexpected €50 deposit came as a surprise. Across our five nights, nobody cleaned the room, and the two of us were left with one towel. We were told rooms are cleaned only once every five days, and only for stays longer than five nights. Fresh towels cost another €4 and clean bed linen €25. I’ve stayed in other aparthotels where rooms were cleaned every other day. At checkout, they said the deposit would go back to our account. It still hadn’t arrived five days later, so we got in touch with the hotel. This was the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Avoid it if you don’t want to sleep in a dirty room.

Ristorante Capperi Roma is right beside the hotel, and the food was good with excellent service. The apartment itself is a little dated and basic, and it’s some distance from the main sights, so we took Uber everywhere. The staff were a different story in the best way: really warm and helpful. Stefano was especially efficient at his job. There was also a very friendly woman at reception whose name I forgot. She was working when we checked out on Feb 15.

There were ants in our second-floor room, and the pool wasn’t open until May, although we’d been told when booking that it would be available. Getting into Rome was also inconvenient because the hotel is far from the city. Breakfast was awful, with hardly any choice and often not enough food. We stayed six days, but changing towels cost extra, there was no housekeeping, and we had to empty our own bins. The staff were rude and unhelpful throughout. For what we paid, this was completely unacceptable. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
